A .ply file can contain very different things. Only Gaussian Splat PLYs can be explored as photo-real scenes.
Accepted
- Standard Gaussian Splat PLY (binary little-endian) with, per splat: position
x y z,opacity, scalescale_0..2, rotationrot_0..3, base colourf_dc_0..2, and optionally spherical-harmonic detailf_rest_*(0, 9, 24 or 45 values = degree 0–3). All values must be 32-bit floats. - Compressed PLY produced by PlayCanvas SuperSplat (with
chunkandpacked_*fields).
Rejected, with an explanation
- Ordinary point clouds (only positions and RGB colours), e.g. from a LiDAR scanner or photogrammetry. You can still add these to a tour with the Point-cloud viewer POI: choose Keep as point cloud on the rejected file.
- Meshes (files with faces): use them as 3D model POIs or as collision proxy geometry instead.
- ASCII or big-endian splat PLYs: re-export as binary little-endian.
- Truncated files: the header promises more data than the file contains. Re-upload the original.
Size limits
Your plan sets a maximum upload size and total storage. Very large scenes (several million splats) load more slowly on phones; consider trimming unwanted areas with clipping volumes or exporting a lighter version from your trainer.
